Bridging the Post-Acute Recovery Gap: A Biomechanical Rehabilitation Framework for Road Traffic Accident Survivors
Presented at the 11th World Disability & Rehabilitation Conference (WDRC 2026), examining the post-acute continuity gap after serious road traffic trauma — the point at which clinical intensity reduces, but the complexity of recovery does not. The framework maps eight recovery domains across a sequenced pathway, aligned with NICE and WHO rehabilitation guidance, and designed to sit alongside existing rehabilitation rather than replace it.

Return to Work After a Road Traffic Accident (RTA) Trauma: The Hidden Risks and How to Stabilise the Transition
Live session delivered for the Vocational Rehabilitation Association on 24 February 2026, 12–1pm GMT. Returning to work after a road traffic accident is often seen as the finish line of recovery. In reality, it is one of the most fragile, high-risk transition points for survivors, many of whom re-enter the workplace while still managing hidden impairments including cognitive fatigue, memory challenges, pain flare-ups, and disclosure anxiety.
Drawing on lived experience, clinical insight, and long-term observation of post-acute recovery patterns, this session provided actionable strategies to support safer, more durable return-to-work outcomes across clinical, rehabilitation, and vocational settings.
